The best Chinese places rate about 2-3.5 stars on yelp because it's a mix of Americans giving it 1 star review and Chinese people giving it 5 stars, so Classic Kitchen is pretty good despite what the reviews say.
I will say the fillings like the dumplings, xiaolongbao, and stuff were very meh. I would stay away from those dishes. However, the jajiangmian was great. Pumpkin red bean things were great. There's a lot of good classic Northern Chinese breakfast dishes that remind me of Beijing.
Service is fast, but menu is Chinese only. Def come with someone who speaks Chinese and can read. -

I chose poorly!
This used to be a spot that had decent quality traditional Chinese food, not any more!
Ordered 4 dish, all sucked!
Onion pancake, soggy dough with no taste.
Steam soupy bao - Soggy reheated mess that already leaked all the soup out when it got to the table.
Pot stickers - salty nasty mess. -

The current ranking shown on Yelp is just about fair. This one offers breakfast, which is great! However I felt so disappointed to the taste and quality. The steamed soup buns that I ordered sticked firmly to the parchment paper, and I can't even peel it off, I did not have a non-broken one from the entire dish. The taste of the stuffing is also not very fresh... The oven rolls taste undercooked as well.
I appreciate this place offers many choices of Chinese breakfast. However, would you please focus on making just fewer but much better and more authentic food instead? I have seen some Japanese restaurants only have 3~5 choices on their menu, but each of them tastes absolutely stunning! Finally, please, "cash only" is not a good idea, seriously. -

I know it's been awhile since I've been here based on my review and not sure why the average is so low on this place. Being I. The mood for a Chinese breakfast we knew this was the place to come. This place has been here for ages. It's always crowded especially on the weekends but is best know for their Chinese breakfast which is often the sweet soy milk with the fried bread (Yo Tao). And the rice porridge with the preserved egg. The green onion chive pancakes etc. all stuff I grew up with.
I really don't know of any other place in Chinatown that serves this the way this place does. Perhaps the low reviews are due to the staff maybe not speaking the best English or the menus being in Chinese. You have to request the English one. But if you can overcome all of that and know what a Chinese breakfast is then this is the place to go!
We found the staff very attentive and pleasant and the food excellent. So in my opinion this place if 5 Stars! -

I went to this restaurant yesterday, as this used to be one of my favorites. Much to my disappointment, the service and the food quality were all so terrible that I feel like not only I have to write a bad review, but also report to the health department. A stinky smell is the first thing one will notice when walking inside. Hesitatingly, I tried to get some cold plate first, but found they were all days old. I picked one that looked a little better, but then had to spit it out as it went bad. The vegetables were sticky and stinky. So I complained to the waitress and chef / manager who were all very rude. I had to leave without enduring any further. I will never step into this restaurant again!
